This is Mike Davis. He is a senior network engineer at the Remote IT Solutions company. He has worked in IT for about 25 years. I chose this respondent because I thought that the IT department would have plenty of problems that would be great ideas for my project. Mr. Davis gave me a very interesting problem. The first was the problem of too many cords. When working with so many different devices in a day, the cords to connect and charge each individual device can get out of hand really quick. For this problem I would suggest creating a organization stand that you could string all of the different wires through. Even finding a way to attach a wireless charging coil straight to the desk would work too.
This is John Abent. He is the Chief Engineer at the Commander Hotel in Ocean City, Maryland. He has held that position for around 10 years. I decided to use him as one of my respondents because, being a Chief Engineer, Mr. Abent would be looking for and solving the same type of problems that I am trying to make an example out of every day. His problem was with the laundry shoot system at the hotel. When people open the trap door to throw their dirty laundry down, there is no warning or notification that laundry is coming down the shoot which can be extremely dangerous. A solution to this problem would be a laundry door detection system. Every time a laundry door opens, a light right next to each door on each floor will light up warning the guest that laundry might be coming down the shoot.
This is Joe Payne. He is the head Banquet Manager at the Clarion Fountainbleau hotel in Ocean City, Maryland. He has been the banquet manager at the hotel for over 20 years. I chose Mr. Payne as one of my respondents because there are a lot of problems that could be fixed with better engineering in the hotel setting. Being so experienced in the hotel business, I was sure there would be a lot of good problems. The problem that was given to me was a problem with filling up the condiments. On a busy night, the possibility of running out of condiments is present and filling them up one by one takes too long in the middle of the chaos. A solution to this problem would be a device that could be manually operated to fill up the condiment cups to the perfect level more rapidly.
